This holiday season was a time for giving, and for Christy Nadeau, it was also an opportunity to make a lasting impact on her DC 82 community. Alongside volunteers including her sister, Local 880 Business Representative, Teresa Ellis, Christy participated in the gift-wrapping event that ensured Christmas was a magical time for families of DC 82. Christy’s dedication to this cause stemmed from personal experiences. “When I was a child, we didn’t have money. I remember volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters, and it made an impact on me.” This spirit of giving has stayed with her, inspiring her to volunteer.
Supporting Families in Need
This year, the DC 82 Christmas Fund served 67 families.
The Gift Wrapping Tradition
One of the most exciting aspects of the initiative is the annual gift-wrapping event, which took place on December 19. Volunteers prepared presents for distribution the next day. On December 20, families picked up gifts to place under their Christmas trees.
The success of the Christmas Fund relies on the generosity of the DC 82 community. Donations help ensure that every child has something to open on Christmas morning.
How You Can Help
